BP7? What about 5 & 6? 5 (Summer in CA/OR) and 6 (BC) will go up when they do. For now, it's on to Costa Rica! This is going to be hasty because, well, I'm trying to take a break from face-time w/ the laptop right now. But I want to get the pics sorted otherwise it turns into a mountain of work. Here's what I've been up to lately....

-
BP7.1 Costa Rica -- Turrialba

So, the basic plan was to a) get our Kayaks on the plane and b) go to Turrialba, Costa Rica's unoffical Kayak Mecca. There's a lot more to write here and I'll fill it in eventually, but for now....

Turrialba - Pejibaye River (PEH-HEE-BYE-AY)

I'm going to keep the text short and fill it in later. A year ago, I was headed up the mountain toward Darjeeling. The day before this, we had a nasty river day that was *not* a warm-up. I'm healing nicely. This, on the other hand, was a warm up and beautiful and quite fun.

Road up to the river
(the roads aren't as bad as Eliot says they are)

Takeout & Bridge

Bridge From the Top
Sign to right reads: "Bridge in Bad Shape -- only light vehicles")

Eating Sugar Cane

Photos of and from a scenic little bridge.

At the takeout again. It was raining that day.....
tcchh -- Well, it's rained *every* day. Dry season starts in December, but, well, we came here for the kayaking, so rain is good. It's super warm. With that said, I've never seen so much %#(% rain in my life. And didn't know it was possible for it to rain so hard!!!! But, that's what makes the rivers go....

The road follows along an easy section of the river. These photos were taken from there. At some point I'll feel comfortable enough to take my camera along and photograph us running some tougher sections...

Taking the guide out for a beer afterwards

Some more pics from the same river a following day (the day my camera died)
